Coronavirus in India: India reported 90,928 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.

The daily positivity rate stands at 6.43 per cent while the weekly positivity rate stands at 3.47 per cent.

As many as 325 patients lost their lives taking the death toll in the country to 482876.

With this, the active caseload in the country stands at 2,85,401.

Coronavirus in Andhra Pradesh: Andhra Pradesh reported 547 fresh cases taking the total tally to 20,78,923 cases across the state. While coming to fatalities, one death reported on Thursday in Visakhapatnam and the toll stands at 14,500. On the other hand, as many as 128 new patients were cured in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 20,62,157 and there are currently 2266 active cases.

According to district-wise data, Chittoor district reported 96 new infections, followed by Visakhapatnam 89 and Krishna 66 while Prakasam district has logged the least cases with 6 new cases in the last twenty-four hours.

While coming to Omicron cases in the state, the totally reaches 28 in Andhra Pradesh.

Coronavirus in Telangana: Telangana reported 1,913 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, pushing the cumulative caseload to 6,87,456. On Wednesday, the state had reported only 1520 cases. The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 7,847. Two more COVID-19 death were reported in the last 24 hours in Telangana.

Among the districts, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) was the main contributor of the infection by registering a maximum of 1214 new cases during the last 24 hours, followed by Rangareddy (213), Medchal-Malkajgiri (161), and Mahabubabad (33). The day's remaining coronavirus cases have been registered by other districts.

    Covid-19 in Karnataka: Karnataka orders special surveillance on people from Goa

    The Karnataka government on Wednesday ordered special surveillance measures, including a negative RT-PCR, for people coming to the State from Goa in view of the rise in Covid-19 there.

    In its order, the government said the negative RT-PCR certificate not older than 72 hours must be produced by the passengers travelling on flight, bus, train or personal transport to Karnataka. This is also applicable for passengers boarding connecting flights from Goa, the order said.

    It further said the airlines concerned should issue boarding passes only to the passengers carrying the negative certificate. (PTI)
