RTC employees should seek reinstatement

It is worrisome that some employees of RTC are resorting to suicides. Does it solve the problem? Some political leaders are instigating the employees towards hardening their stand further which would lead certainly to chaos and logjam.

Instead, they should suggest way forward which will lead to a solution. The RTC employees' trade union leaders should think over the situation prevailing and act accordingly.

In the States ruled by the political parties which are now backing the TSRTC strike, the respective RTCs are not merged with the State governments.

Ironically, the same parties which are not opposing the privatisation at Union Government level (BSNL etc) and not agitating to merge RTC with the Governments at States level, are now backing the TS-RTC employees strike.

The RTC employees should not vehemently press for merging with the Government as their primary demand. The RTC union leaders and the Government, both should immediately defuse the situation which is leading to the suicides and sufferings of innocent employees.

Employees should come out boldly and ask their leaders recall the strike and request the government to reinstate them and then discuss the issues sympathetically. Government should handle the issue sympathetically.

It is heartening that some positive signals came from both the parties, the Government as well as the RTC Union on Monday. The RTC employees should grab the opportunity and reassert their solidarity with the people.
