Bengaluru: Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has congratulated veteran Kannada actor Anant Nag on being chosen for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2024, describing the recognition as a matter of pride for the people of Karnataka.

In a statement, Shivakumar said it was a matter of great happiness that Anant Nag, a veteran actor, exceptional artiste and versatile personality of the Kannada film industry, had been honoured with one of the highest recognitions in Indian cinema.

“Anant Nag’s contribution to cinema is immense. Having acted in several languages, including Kannada and Hindi, he has made a lasting contribution to Indian cinema. By announcing the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in recognition of his contribution, the Government of India has honoured a distinguished artiste,” the Chief Minister said.

Shivakumar conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to Anant Nag on behalf of the people of Karnataka and wished that the actor’s work and artistic journey would continue to inspire future generations.
