BBMP team visits Ulsoor Lake to inspect waste removal
Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) commissioner N Manjunath Prasad along with MLA Rizwan Arshad, Chief Engineer (Lakes) Mohan Krishna, Joint Commissioner (Solid Waste) Sarfaraz Khan and officials from the Madras Engineer Group (MEG & Centre) inspected the cleaning of 113-acre Ulsoor Lake
Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) commissioner N Manjunath Prasad along with MLA Rizwan Arshad, Chief Engineer (Lakes) Mohan Krishna, Joint Commissioner (Solid Waste) Sarfaraz Khan and officials from the Madras Engineer Group (MEG & Centre) inspected the cleaning of 113-acre Ulsoor Lake.
Five boats engaged by the civic body removed 25-30 loads of weed and plastic from the lake.
The lake, a training ground for MEGs, also serves as a major tourist attraction in the city. The civic body is proposing to allocate adequate funds in the next budget for improving the lake.
Mr Mohan Krishna said, "A trash barrier has been installed to prevent floating material from spreading out in the lake. The waste, including plastic, collected near the trash barrier is cleared periodically".
