‘Gramaanubhava’ programme launched across Karnataka
Bengaluru: TheState government’s special programme, ‘Gramaanubhava’, aimed at familiarising school students growing up in urban areas with rural life, agriculture and animal husbandry, was launched on Sunday, Kannada Rajyotsava Day.
The Deputy Chief Minister and other ministers launched the initiative at a programme held in Bengaluru. The primary objective of the programme is to take learning beyond textbooks and provide students with practical exposure. Under the initiative, students from urban schools will spend a day in a rural setting, where they will get an opportunity to observe farming practices, crop cultivation, dairy farming, animal husbandry and the rural economy.
The programme also aims to help children understand the hard work put in by farmers, their daily lives and rural culture, while giving them a first-hand experience of how food reaches their plates.Students from more than 10 schools participated in the initial launch. The programme will be gradually extended to urban school students in all districts across the State in the coming days.
The government aims to bridge the growing gap between urban and rural lifestyles and instil respect for farmers and rural culture among young minds. The educational initiative has received appreciation from parents and education enthusiasts.
