Bahadurpura: Minister for Environment and Forests, A Indra Karan Reddy released a pair of African Lion cubs into the enclosure for public display at the Lion moat area, ostrich chicks in the ostrich enclosure and also inaugurated Walkthrough aviary at Stork enclosure and Duck pond enclosure at the Nehru Zoological Park here on Monday.

The minister along with Special Chief Secretary Ajay Mishra, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests PK Jha, forest department officials and zoo officials went around the zoo and appreciated the officials concerned for the maintenance and upkeep of the zoo.

Later, Indra Karan Reddy and Ajay Mishra and others planted trees to supplement the trees which fell during heavy wind and rain in zoo park on April 20. The Zoos and Parks Authority eighth annual meeting was also held at the meeting hall of the Nehru Zoological Park. The committee approved the developmental works proposed to be taken up in 2019-20.

According to the zoo officials, Tech Mahindra has come forward to take up uplift of zoo park under CSR, offered to spend about Rs 1 crore duly taking up food court at the front entrance. The same is approved by the committee. The zoo infrastructure plan for 2020-40 was formulated and submitted to the committee for its approval.
