Asif Nagar: Lauding the review petition being filed by AIMPLB over Ayodhya-Babri verdict, AIMIM floor leader and Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi held that, "despite continuous injustice for over seven decades following Independence, Muslims still uphold faith in Supreme Court."

Addressing a gathering during a protest on Babri Masjid demolition held near Ahmed Function Hall in Asif Nagar on Monday night, Akbaruddin challenged those who were questioning seeking review of the case by citing democratic values of the country. "Since the community has faith in Supreme Court, they wish to review, despite all the injustice faced during the past 70 years," he said.

The act of demolition of Babri Masjid, he felt, was not only pulling down a religious structure, but was the first major attack by communal forces to divide the nation by Sangh and its outfits. He also reminded the gathering that before the demolition, during the Rath Yatra L K Advani had incited people in the name of religion, thereby triggering widespread riots across the country. "I am being targeted with allegations of delivering hate speeches, but if one went through the propaganda during 1990s, they would be shocked by the gravity of hate speeches delivered by these organisations," he pointed out.

Akbaruddin recalled the chronology of events that led to the demolition of mosque despite the then UP government's assurance to the National Integration Council (NIC), Parliament and Supreme Court. "It was also an attack on Judiciary, Executive and secularism of the country," he added.

The programme was attended by Party MLAs Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri (Yakutpura), Mumtaz Ahmed Khan (Charminar), Moazam Khan (Bahadurpura), Jaffar Hussain Meraj (Nampally), Kausar Mohiuddin (Karwan) MLC Mirza Riyaz-ul-Hassan Effendi, TS Urdu Academy Chairman, Maulana Md Raheemuddin Ansari, Maulana Nisar Hussain Hyder Agha, Maulana Md Husamuddin Sani and others.
