BJP wants Assembly Speaker to disqualify defected MLAs

Hyderabad: BJP State General Secretaries N Gautam Rao and Vemula Ashok stated at a press conference on Thursday that the Supreme Court decision to uphold the disqualification of Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender marks a monumental moment for democracy and constitutional values. Gautam Rao called the judgment a historic victory resulting from persistent legal efforts by the BJP Legislature Party.

He noted that the apex court delivered a stern message that legislative assemblies cannot serve as safe havens for opportunist politicians. Describing the verdict as a direct rebuke of Congress tactics, Gautam Rao criticized Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, accusing them of promoting defections while misleading the public with mutual corruption allegations. He demanded a public apology from both Congress and BRS, calling on Rahul Gandhi to address constitutional violations.

Urging all nine defected legislators, including Kadiyam Srihari and Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, to resign immediately and seek a fresh mandate, Gautam Rao reiterated that the BJP adheres strictly to political morality. Vemula Ashok stated that the High Court 91-page judgment, now affirmed by the apex court, vindicates the constitutional stance of the BJP and terminates evasive political maneuvering. He criticized the Assembly Speaker for ignoring obvious evidence of defection and demanded the swift disqualification of all remaining defectors to restore public faith in democratic institutions.
