Patancheru: Congress leaders and activists of the local industrial area on Thursday paid glowing tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to mark her death anniversary. The leaders, including Corporator Shankar Yadav Gali Anil Kumar, Narsimha Reddy, garlanded Indira's statue at BHEL Crossroads.

In their speeches, the leaders recalled Indira's stint as Prime Minister for 16 years and lauded her contribution to the country's development through schemes like 'Garibi Hatao', 20-point programme, industrial policy, leading to the setting up of BDL, Ordnance factory, Mahindra & Mahindra units, and to the birth of Bangladesh.

They said she was also elected as MP from Medak. Among the leaders present were Town Congress president and former Sarpanch Sanjiva Reddy, Yuvaraj More, Srinivas Yadav and Mallesh Yadav.
