Irrigation and Food & Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy
Hyderabad: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy has exuded confidence that the Congress will continue to rule Telangana until 2034, stating that the party’s political era, which began in 2024, would extend for another decade.
Addressing a massive gathering of Congress leaders, workers and supporters in Suryapet, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the party was steadily strengthening its support base across the state and was poised to consolidate its position in the coming years.
The meeting was organised as part of the party’s preparations for the forthcoming Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduates’ Constituency election to the Legislative Council, in which Ramreddy Savotham Reddy is the Congress candidate.
The minister attributed the growing public support for Congress to the government’s welfare-oriented initiatives, which, he said, were making a significant difference in people’s lives.
He particularly highlighted the distribution of fine-quality ‘sanna biyyam’ (fine rice) to eligible families, describing it as a landmark initiative that had strengthened food security and provided dignity to economically weaker sections.
He also highlighted the government’s achievements in the agriculture sector, particularly the substantial paddy production recorded despite irrigation-related challenges and concerns over the Kaleshwaram project.
Referring to the challenges posed by El Niño and the emerging agricultural situation, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the government was taking necessary measures to safeguard farmers’ interests and address water-related issues.
