Deputy CM flags alleged deletion of legitimate votes under SIR

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka
Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka alleged on Sunday that the Election Commission of India is losing its constitutional independence and functioning under the direction of the BJP government.
Expressing serious concern that eligible voters are being disenfranchised under the pretext of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, he called for a nationwide movement to protect democracy. Addressing Congress leaders and party cadres at Telangana Bhavan before leaving for the Ramlila Maidan public meeting under the Chalo Delhi campaign, Bhatti Vikramarka urged citizens to safeguard fundamental voting rights. He stated that Rahul Gandhi has consistently highlighted systemic irregularities in voter lists and Election Commission functioning over the past five to six years. Bhatti Vikramarka expressed concern over internal friction among Election Commissioners, alleging that Chief Election Commissioner decisions override views of fellow commissioners.
Emphasising that the Constitution guarantees equal voting rights to every eligible citizen regardless of status, he asserted that attempts to deny franchise weaken democratic foundations. Recalling the historic contributions of BR Ambedkar, he urged the public to defend democratic values against institutional erosion.
Bhatti Vikramarka alleged that calculated attempts were executed to delete 20,000 to 25,000 legitimate votes across individual Assembly constituencies. He claimed Congress candidates secured several assembly seats by convincing margins of 40,000 to 60,000 votes despite arbitrary removals, warning that widespread voter purges compromise electoral fairness.
Meanwhile, TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud congratulated state party workers participating in the rally, urging active support for Rahul Gandhi’s democratic campaign. State Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Jupally Krishna Rao also addressed the gathering.
