Hyderabad: The Secunderabad Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force in a joint operation arrested a person at Secunderabad Railway Station for transporting counterfeit Indian currency notes. Railway police seized Rs 60 lakh worth of fake currency from the accused. Secunderabad GRP Inspector B Saieashwar Goud stated that officers apprehended the passenger in a general coach of Train 18519 Mumbai LTT Express on Platform 10 while he was moving fake currency from Jaipur to Mumbai via Hyderabad.
The arrested person was identified as 19 year old Shivratan Mahiya, a resident of Kalyansar village in Bikaner district, Rajasthan. Railway police revealed that Shivratan Mahiya had been procuring counterfeit currency notes over recent months, transporting them to Mumbai for circulation with associates. Shivratan Mahiya boarded the Mysore SF Express and reached Kacheguda Railway Station. After staying overnight at Hotel K INN Lodge in Kacheguda, he proceeded to Secunderabad Railway Station. As the Konark Express was cancelled due to floods, he boarded the Mumbai LTT Express with the backpack. Acting on a specific tip-off, railway police arrested him and seized the full contraband.
