Folk dancer Madhuri Rathod attempts suicide
Hyderabad: Telangana folk dancer Madhuri Rathod attempted suicide by hanging at her residence on Sunday, days after lodging a complaint against co-dancer Eswar Sai. Alert family members intervened in time to save her, and doctors report that her condition is currently stable.
According to police, Madhuri was deeply distressed after being verbally abused by Eswar Sai's family members. Distracted by the harassment, she filed an official complaint with the Narsingi police. However, despite registering the case, authorities reportedly failed to take prompt action.
Overwhelmed by humiliation and the lack of police response, Madhuri attempted to take her own life.
Her family noticed the incident, rescued her, and rushed her to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Police stated they will initiate further legal proceedings once they receive the Medico-Legal Case (MLC) report from the hospital.
