Shalibanda: Hyderabad's Haleem is now enriched with Manipuri's black rice available at Pista House in Shalibanda and its more than 200 outlets in Hyderabad, also including in international and domestic terminals of Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bangalore airports and all Metro Rail stations of Hyderabad.

Pista House, on Sunday announced that the lovers of this Hyderabadi dish can relish improvisation, as it would now be enriched with Chakhao, the famous Black Rice from Manipur, which was once only reserved for the Chinese royal family.

Chinese believed that this variety of rice, name eponymous to its colour, was meant only for the emperor as it remarkably enhanced the quality of life due to its rich nutritional value. ''With the latest improvisation, the nutritional and health value of Pista House Haleem will now be enhanced with the use of Black Rice, making its available to the common man,'' said MA Majeed, its managing director.

Pista House Haleem will be available in different quantities with the single plate Haleem weighing 350 grams will be available for Rs 170, a family pack for Rs 690. Jumbo packs come in 5kg and 10kg containers, which can be served hot for 8 hours. Majeed said that Hyderabadi's Haleem now enriched with Manipuri's black rice would be available not just in Hyderabad, but across India and several countries in the Gulf and parts of Europe.

Speaking about the management of Pista House all over the world, director Mohammed Mohaddis said that in Telangana State, Pista House Haleem would be available through 200 outlets. The world's largest Haleem maker has expanded its operations with Pista House outlets in Kuwait, Qatar and Paris throughout the month of Ramadan.

Mohaddis also said that Pista House, which was founded in the vicinity of the historical Charminar, remarkably expanded not just across India but also at the global level. Pista House has its franchises and outlets for Haleem across various cities of United States including California, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Virginia, New York, Free Mount City and Saint Romain in France through its partner franchises since 2017. ''With the grace of god, Pista House will be the Hyderabad brand frontier like KFC, McDonald's etc, which will be available all over the world,'' said Mohaddis.

Speaking about the Chakhao (black rice), North-East Foundation CEO Bhanu Pratap Singh, who is also an expert on North Indian cuisines, said, "Black rice is extremely rich in antioxidants. It can help the Haleem lovers lead a healthier life due to its higher nutritional value."
