Harish appears in court over defamation suit against Cong

Hyderabad: BRSLP Deputy Leader T Harish Rao on Thursday appeared before the People’s Representatives Court in the city to record his statement in a defamation case filed against TPCC Chief B Mahesh Kumar Goud and MLC Addanki Dayakar.

Speaking to the media, Harish Rao asserted that false allegations linking him to black magic would not be tolerated, warning that strict legal action will be pursued against anyone making such claims. He stated that Congress leaders Mahesh Kumar Goud and Addanki Dayakar made defamatory remarks alleging he performed black magic rituals.

"We have taken the legal route and filed a defamation petition supported by evidence. The court has accepted our petition and directed us to appear again next Wednesday for the continuation of statement recordings," Harish Rao said.

The senior BRS leader condemned the opposition's remarks, clarifying that routine temple visits and offering prayers were being maliciously portrayed as occult practices. He expressed deep regret over the declining standard of public discourse, alleging that Congress leaders resorted to personal mudslinging because the opposition was consistently questioning the government on pressing public matters. Harish Rao claimed that the ruling party was intentionally deploying these absurd allegations to divert public attention from its unfulfilled election manifestos, particularly on crucial matters regarding irrigation, electricity, and welfare promises.

Additionally, Harish Rao raised serious concerns over alleged violations of legislative privileges within the state assembly. He noted that BRS leaders had submitted multiple formal notices to the Speaker regarding procedural lapses.

He highlighted that even after three years, a Deputy Speaker who plays a critical role in leading the Privileges Committee has still not been appointed by the government. Reaffirming his complete faith in the judicial system despite ongoing political pressure, Harish Rao vowed that the BRS would continue relying on the courts to hold detractors accountable for spreading false propaganda.
