Hyderabad: The city was once again battered with heavy rain and several areas went under a sheet of water. People scurried to take shelter under Metro Rail pillars, cars and vehicles struggled to wade through thigh-deep water and traffic jams in almost all parts of the city was witnessed.



Following the sudden downpour on Tuesday, many parts of the city, especially those in the northern part such as Trimulgherry, Bowenpally, Malkajgiri, and Marredpally, bore the brunt.

According to IMD, the rainfall activities are all set to increase over Telangana during next two to three days. And fairly widespread rain and thundershower activities would lash the state including its capital city, Hyderabad until September 26.

As per the Telangana State Development Planning Society, the areas that received maximum rain included Keesara, Trimulgherry, Malkajgiri, Kapra, Alwal, Khairatabad, Marredpally and Qutbhullapur.

People were seen struggling to commute from the road. Due to potholes in many areas, it became difficult for the motorists to ply their vehicles. The rain is being attributed to the upper air cyclonic circulation over the west-central and adjoining south-west Bay of Bengal off south Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu coasts now lies over south AP and its neighbourhood.

The IMD bulletin said a trough runs from the above cyclonic circulation to the south-west Madhya Pradesh across Vidarbha. According to the forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at most places across Telangana from September 25 to 28. No large change during the period September 29 to October 1 is the weather outlook.
