Land sharks descend on Neknampur Dargah land
15 acres of attached land now reduced to 1acre; Wakf Board fails to act
Hyderabad: Once more than 15 acres of land were attached to the 450-year-old Dargah Hazrath Syed Asadullah Shah Quadri Shaheed located at Neknampur village in city outskirts. All that the dargah has now is only 1 acre. Its Mutawalli (caretaker) Syed Sultan Mohiuddin Shah Quadri Sufiyani alleged that no action was taken by Wakf Board in this regard.
Local people said that recently some private developers illegally installed a boundary behind the Dargah by using sheets and started construction work. Later, it was stopped after the caretaker lodged a complaint with revenue officials.
According to Sufiyani, the land is identified as Wakf land at survey no 52, 61, 62, 63, 166 with around 15 acres attached to the Dargah. To protect the land from encroachment several representations were submitted to the authorities and petitions were also filed in the High Court.
"Observing increasing value of the real estate in the city outskirts, the land grabbers have occupied Wakf land by preparing illegal pattas at Neknampur village in Manikonda under Ranga Reddy district. Since 2006 the private developers had been encroaching the Dargah's land and no legal action has been taken against them by Wakf Board," he said.
