KTR may be asked to take up TRS mantle

HYDERABAD: THERE has been a lull in the activities of the TRS after the Dubbaka bypoll and GHMC elections. The TRS leaders say that the party leadership was engrossed in a serious exercise to evaluate the reasons for the setback and in all probability will come out with an action plan to completely revamp the party which could even be the elevation of K T Rama Rao.

"This pause is an indication that some big changes are in the offing in the party," a party leader said. There is a possibility of large-scale reshuffle in the party and some changes in the Government. It now remains to be seen if KTR would be elevated as fullfledged party president or as Deputy Chief Minister.

Party leaders claim that the Chief Minister is also examining the possibility of handing over the mantle to KTR while keeping the party president's post. This, they say, would help the party to focus on national politics and convert itself into a national party. The party leaders are of the view that the Chief Minister during his visit to New Delhi had informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the change he was contemplating.

It may be mentioned here that after the visit to New Delhi, the Chief Minister till Sunday had been working from his farmhouse. Sources said that the TRS chief was taking up the exercise for the changes to be made in the state. However, there has been no official confirmation on this issue. But strong speculations continue to make rounds in party circles.

But one thing is certain that before KCR decides to go in for drastic changes in the party and the Government, he would first fill up the nominated posts. There are about 42 corporations which have no chairpersons. This includes RTC, Mission Bhagiratha, Mining Corporation among others.
