HYDRAA razes bar’s illegal shed on Ramanthapur lake bed
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) demolished an unauthorised shed constructed within the Full Tank Level (FTL) limits of Ramanthapur Pedda Cheruvu in Uppal constituency.
The shed had been erected on an open plot measuring more than 400 square yards and was being used as a seating area by the management of a nearby bar. According to HYDRAA, although the bar had obtained permission to operate in an adjacent building, the management was allegedly running the seating facility in the temporary shed without securing the necessary permissions.
Local residents lodged a complaint with HYDRAA, alleging that customers consuming alcohol at the shed were creating disturbances for passersby. They also complained that some consumers were drinking in public, behaving inappropriately and making the surrounding area unhygienic.
Residents further alleged that people were sitting along the lake bund, consuming alcohol and throwing empty liquor bottles into the water, undermining efforts to restore and develop Ramanthapur Pedda Cheruvu.
Taking the complaints into consideration, HYDRAA officials demolished the unauthorised shed and brought the encroached land into the lake restoration and development initiative.
The action brought a relief to local residents, who had raised concerns over public nuisance, pollution and the impact of unauthorised activities on the lake’s development.
