Sangareddy: Telangana PCC working president T Jagga Reddy on Friday took up a unique campaign here - ‘Save Our Votes’ in support of Rahul Gandhi--a ballot‑box movement under his leadership.
The voters wrote their names, booth numbers, and messages, placing them in the ballot box as petitions, expressing solidarity with the fight to protect voting rights. Their demands include the removal of the BJP government at the Centre, which is involved in vote theft and the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Congress senior leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi had met President Droupadi Murmuon the issues. In support, voters sent vote cards from Sangareddy to the President.
To support Rahul Gandhi’s fight to protect voting rights, Jagga Reddy organized a unique programme in Sangareddy under the banner “Save Our Votes”.
Reddy set up a specially designed ballot box through which people could express their solidarity. In this programme, citizens wrote their names and polling‑booth numbers, along with messages requesting Rahul to safeguard their votes, and dropped them into the box. Through these messages, they conveyed that they stand firmly behind Rahul’s struggle to protect democratic rights.
Reddy emphasised that protecting voting rights is not just a matter for leaders, but a fundamental democratic right of every citizen. By collecting messages directly from the public, the initiative aimed to mobilise grassroots support for safeguarding voting rights.
The senior Congress leader remarked, “voting rights are the voice of the citizen. Protecting that vote is equal to protecting democracy. Through this programme, the people of Sangareddy have sent a strong message to Rahul Gandhi. They have shown that they are partners in his fight to protect voting rights. This is not the struggle of one leader; it is a collective fight to safeguard every citizen’s democratic right.”
Through the initiative, Reddy highlighted public support for Rahul’s movement to protect voting rights and stressed the need to ensure that every eligible voter can exercise their franchise. He alleged that during the Special Integrated Revision (SIR) process in Telangana, 73 lakh votes were removed, and 92 lakh voters were issued notices. He accused the BJP of winning MP seats due to vote theft, enabling Modi to become PM; claimed Modi is attempting to become PM for a fourth time using similar methods.
Reddy alleged that Modi and CEC Gyanesh Kumar together are stealing people’s votes. He criticised conspiracies in some states to come to power by manipulating voter lists; stated that Rahul is fighting to protect citizens’ rights, especially the right to vote.
He added that Rahul has declared he will not stop the fight until Gyanesh Kumar resigns. Along with his family members, he is protesting on the streets of Delhi. Reddy said they will continue protests in Sangareddy in solidarity with Rahul’s movement. He demanded: “Gyanesh Kumar must resign; the voting rights of the people must be protected.”
