Bahadurpura: With a view to empowering the homemaker, an NGO, SAFA Society, started a free cookery training centre at Vattepalli on Monday. The aim was to add more spice and delicacy to the regular diet of people in the area and beyond. The organisers named the centre 'Karwan Kitchen' with a hope that in the coming days it might spread the aroma and fragrance of delicately prepared dishes by the women in the entire area predominantly known as 'purana shaher.'

The concept was devised by the SAFA society, an NGO that has been working for several years in the Old City to empower the local women and girls and to uplift the society by educating the people, especially from poor background.

Addressing the gathering, renowned chef Puneet Mehta, one of the finalists of Master Chef – India Season-2, emphasised the need to make flavours out of ingredients easily sourced in the kitchen instead of relying on hardly or lavishly available in the markets. "With their cautious incrementalism they could make a more number of dishes every day that would help them even to penetrate the area of marketing with their specialized way of cooking practices," he said.

Vice President of SAFA, Fareesa Khan, in her address, appreciated the women coming out to cook a better society with their legerdemain skills. "During the training programme, the centre will train 60 women from different localities with the help of expert chef. The women would be trained with Indian, Chinese, Arabian, Continental dishes besides preparing sweets and savouries etc," said Enterprises Executive of SAFA Society, Esha Bhattacharya.

Project Manager Sumi Saikia hosted the show while Trainer Chef Ashish, Livelihood Executive Alister, Media Manager Syed Younus besides local leaders Moti Lal Nayak, Abdul Hannan, Mirza Hamed Baig were present on the occasion.
