Hyderabad CP warns public against using earphones while driving or walking near railway tracks

Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar warned the public on Tuesday against using earphones while walking near railway tracks or driving vehicles, highlighting the potentially fatal consequences of distraction and negligence. In a public awareness message, the police
commissioner highlighted a tragic incident on the outskirts of Hyderabad in which a person lost their life while talking on a mobile phone, apparently unaware of an approaching train.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of how a moment of inattention can lead to loss of life. Earphones, often used for entertainment or conversations, block out crucial warning sounds, including approaching trains, vehicle horns, and emergency traffic alerts.
In a post on X, VC Sajjanar stressed that a moment of carelessness could prove fatal, cautioning that earphones prevent people from hearing approaching vehicles and sirens, thereby putting their lives and others at risk.
The police chief urged citizens to avoid wearing earphones while walking along railway tracks, crossing roads, or driving vehicles, stressing that remaining alert to one’s surroundings is essential for personal safety.
VC Sajjanar stated that no phone call is more important than human life and no entertainment is worth risking safety, urging people to act responsibly and remember families waiting for them at home.
The commissioner appealed to the general public to prioritise personal safety, remain vigilant near railway lines and busy roads, and completely avoid distractions that lead to preventable tragedies.
