Ramachandrapuram: 'Sahasravadhani' Madugula Nagaphani Sharma on Thursday described teachers as deciders of the path to be taken for better future and called for respecting them, as was done traditionally in the past.

He was speaking at 'Gurupujotsava' programme organised to mark Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's birthday by the Lions Club of Serilingampally at J V S Gardens to honour teachers. Sharma gave away awards to best teachers and also felicitated them.

Addressing the gathering, Sharma observed that the 'Sanathana Dharma' traditions were based on the foundation of the 'guru'. He said the education sector would rise to peaks under the stewardship of capable teachers who drive society forward.

Striking a personal note, Sharma said he had himself studied in a government school and came up in society, and pointed out that certain facilities in the State-run institutions were not available elsewhere. He lauded the club for holding the 'Gurupujotsava' programme and cautioned against forgetting one's parents and gurus.

Sharma advised students to get inspiration from the aims and aspirations of Dr Radhakrishnan to scale the ladder of success. Among those present were Lions Club District Governor Erukula Veeresham, G R Surya Raj, Ramakrishna Reddy, G Lakshma Reddy, Ramchandar, organiser Allam Panduranga Rao.
