Locals turn open plot into dump yard
An empty plot at Manjeera Nagar that is close to an orphanage has turned into a dump yard as residents are throwing household waste there. Repeated attempts to contact the officials of the civic body have proved futile, say locals.

The caregiver of the orphanage said on condition of anonymity, "People from other localities come and throw the garbage here. This causes inconvenience to the children in the orphanage.
When we question, they use abusive language." Soumya E, 20, said, "This has become a serious issue for the locals. Even after complaining about the issue to the concerned authority, there has no action."
Manoj, working at an MNC, said, "The garbage is left to rot here and the place stinks so much that one needs to cover face or hold the breath if he/she is to cross the area. This place has been an illegal dump yard for years now. Despite repeated complaints, the GHMC has failed to take this matter seriously."
