Malakpet: In a bizarre incident which came to light, a mother along with her two daughters was sold off allegedly by her husband and in-laws for an amount of Rs 3 lakh. The human rights activists who took up the case demanded immediate action against the police officials for letting-off the culprits who barged into the victim's residence and tried to kidnap her along with children.
Speaking to media persons, Jaya Vindhyala, General Secretary, PUCL (People's Union for Civil Liberties)-TS said that Ishrat Parveen (22) was married to Fazle Rahma Rahmani, a resident of Bandlaguda in the year 2016. Soon after their marriage, the disputes begun between the couple and Ishrat's mother-in-law Nusrat Rahmani, her Father-in-law Moulana Abdus Subhan Rahamani started torturing her 'mercilessly'.
On May 5, 2017, the woman gave a birth to a baby (in poor health conditions), who is now 2-year-old and weighs below just 5 kgs. But the in laws and husband who wanted a baby boy were not pleased with her and tortured her more severely.
The doctor told them that under-weight baby was suffering from some deficiency and it would take Rs 15 to 20 thousand to treat baby girl. "Her husband and in-laws were against spending money on the treatment of their girl child. They further stated that if she would survive without any treatment, then they would keep her or else throw her out," said the activist.
Even the second time Ishrat Parveen got pregnant with a female child. Her situation has now become pitiable. After a month of the delivery of the 2nd child, husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law went out citing that they have to attend a marriage in the Shadnagar area. For last three months their whereabouts were not known and worried Ishrat remained anxious and searched for them.
However, on Friday, three people forcibly entered into the house and dragged Ishrat Parveen and her two kids saying that they purchased (the two baby girls along with Parveen for 3 lakhs). Feeling frightened the woman started shouting and the neighbours responded to her cry and immediately dialled 100.
"The local police came to the spot and picked up the three people. They asked Ishrat to come to the police station, where she briefed the police about the incident and her condition. In spite of the evidence the police let-off these men," alleged Jaya Vindhyala.
PUCL-TS secretary demanded that the State government initiate action against the police officials of Chandrayangutta police station for letting-off the kidnappers. The government should arrange for the protection and health care of Ishrat Parveen and her kids immediately. "If anything happens to Ishrat Parveen and her two kids, the police officials should be held responsible," she added.
Reacting on the allegations, Fazle Rahma Rahmani, husband of the woman, strongly refuted the reports which have gone viral on social media platforms. He held that his wife was misleading and suppressed the facts. "The suppression has been made by wife to create false allegations against me.
At the time of delivery there were medical complications to my new-born baby girl (first) who was born with a low birth weight. We had to shell off Rs 30,000 for her treatment from time to time. For the second delivery I paid Rs 20,000 towards medical bills, which was normal," he said.
He also alleged that the Ishrat has been demanding the transfer of property in her name. "In order to escape the liability, she and her family hatched a plan and foisted this false report against us to cover their liability. In the video she is her statements does not correlate to each other," he pointed out.
Meanwhile police officials described this as family dispute going out of control. According to police, the family had already approached the police on several occasions. Case was already booked against the husband and against the sisters of the woman for beating the man in the question.
"The men who were handed over to the police were the people who had brought the house of Ishrat which was sold off. They tried to pressure her to evacuate the house, but their neighbours dialled 100 inviting the police. This is nothing but family and property related dispute nothing more than that. The news that the children and woman were sold was not true," said Chandrayangutta inspector, Koteshwara Rao.
