Rajendranagar: Revitalised with the recent overwhelming response to its membership drive, the All India Majlis Inquilab e Millat (AIMIM) is contemplating to issue 'Medical Insurance' cover to poor and underprivileged of the society. If everything materializes then people suffering from ailments would also get treatment in government as well as private hospitals for free of cost.

It is against this background, a meeting of party's core committee leaders was held on Tuesday to discuss the modalities and to check the feasibility of reaching people with such a philanthropic idea.

To materialise the idea of providing medical insurance to poor and needy persons of the society, the AIMIM party would create a mechanism to implement the scheme without any lacunae.

"Party will provide medical insurance to the poor and needy irrespective of religious affiliation in order to help them get treated in any government or private hospitals anywhere in the state. With this, the people would be able to avail of medical facility in the hospitals from Rs 2 to Rs 4 lakh according to the nature of the ailments and the disease they are suffering with. Presently, we are discussing the modalities of the scheme and the way it could be implemented without any difficulty," informed Moulana Syed Taraq Quadri, president of AIMIM.

The idea to provide medical insurance was mooted soon after the inception of the party this year and was in serious considerations since. "The idea is unique in more ways than one as health issues become a primary concern for every household. People in every walk of life are getting affected with several type of health issues due to poor nature of food being supplied in the markets. We are hopeful that the meeting will come up with Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPA) soon to implement the same," he asserted.

"Our party is fully committed to the welfare of the people irrespective of cast, creed ad the race. We are since long planning to provide a facility that would help the people address their primary concern of safeguarding their life through maintaining health with better treatment facilities," said Vice President Syed Hamed Hussain Shuttari.

"Entire family will be covered under the health insurance scheme. We are going to implement the scheme in a phased manner. In the meeting we decided to cover one thousand people in first phase. Later, we will extend the facility to more people," said senior party leader, advocate M A Qavi Abbasi.

"If everything goes fine according to the plan, we will be able to issue health cards from 1st week of December. To avail of the facility, he said, people need to approach the party headquarter at Aghapura with photo copy of Adhaar Card and four recent passport size photos to get their names registered before they were insured under the scheme," said M A Quddus Ghori, an advocate.
