Jadcherla: Telangana BJP President N Ramachander Rao heavily criticised the state government for ignoring agricultural distress, questioning Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, and Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy over their silence regarding water shortages for standing crops.
On his way to support protesting farmers at the Jurala project on Tuesday morning, Ramachander Rao was detained at Jadcherla and taken to the District Police Training Centre. Following his release, he condemned the administration, stating that preventive detentions have become the government standard response to public grievances, fee reimbursement protests, and agricultural issues alike.
Ramachander Rao urged Revanth Reddy to request upper-riparian water releases from Congress-ruled Karnataka, pointing out that Almatti and Narayanpur dams are overflowing.
