Oil tankers posing risks to residents

Mallapur: A petrol tanker rammed into an electric poll at Gokul Nagar in the city on Tuesday. Fortunately, there were no casualties as there was no one at the spot and a major mishap was averted. However, there is a school near the accident site and there is no safety to the school students.

Speaking to The Hans India, residents of this locality said these kinds of accidents have become common in the vicinity of Gokul Nagar. They alleged that complaints have been lodged with the officials concerned several times stating those petrol tankers were being parked in the residential areas. But, the officials remained indifferent to our problems, the residents lamented.

They said that middlemen, who were hand in glove with drivers, started stealing fuel. We don't know what kind of untoward incidents would take place if the tankers are parked in the colony. Colony president Mallaiah, Raju, Mahesh Kumar, Kankanala Raju and others blamed officials for their negligence.
