Phone-tapping case: FIR against Harish Rao shifted to Siddipet

BRSLP Deputy Leader T Harish Rao
Hyderabad: In a fresh development in the phone-tapping case involving BRS MLA and former minister T Harish Rao, the police have transferred the FIR to Siddipet One Town Police Station and added five more legal provisions against him and suspended police officer P Radha Kishan Rao. The case relates to the alleged interception of the mobile phones of Gadagoni Chakradhar Goud and his family members.
According to the police, the FIR was transferred to Siddipet after adding Sections 419, 420, 467 and 406 of the IPC, along with provisions of the Information Technology Act, against Harish Rao and Radha Kishan Rao.
Chakradhar Goud lodged a complaint with the Punjagutta police, alleging that Harish Rao and Radha Kishan Rao had intercepted the mobile phones of his family members during the 2023 Assembly elections. Chakradhar Goud had contested the elections as a Congress nominee from Siddipet.
Following his complaint, the Punjagutta police registered a case against Harish Rao and Radha Kishan Rao. Harish Rao subsequently approached the High Court seeking quashing of the FIR. The High Court later quashed the case.
Recently, Chakradhar Goud challenged the High Court’s order in the Supreme Court by filing a petition.
While the matter is pending before the courts, the police have now transferred the case to Siddipet, where the alleged offence took place, and added further legal provisions.
