Secunderabad: Residents of Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) Ward-5 led by G Shravan Kumar, convener of Progressive Telangana Foundation, have urged for the extension of voter enrolment up to August 10 for the upcoming Cantonment elections. The residents submitted a memorandum to Chandra Sekhar, the chief executive officer of SCB, on Saturday.

As the voter enrolment period in SCB was very short – it began on July 1 and ended on July 20 –most of the general public are unaware of voter verification process due to lack of awareness, says Shravan Kumar.

Till date no camps regarding voter verification and enrolment were organised by SCB, and no banner was displayed near colonies and also no door-to-door survey was conducted by the concerned department. Residents request the SCB to conduct a door-to-door survey and carry out awareness campaigns.
