Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police will deploy 10,000 cops during the GHMC elections in 30 wards which have around 14.2 lakh voters.

A total of 8,000 civil forces will be working round the clock to ensure a free and transparent elections while 2,000 armed forces will be deployed in the sensitive and critical polling locations along with civil forces, said Mahesh Bhagwat, Rachakonda police commissioner.

He said, "There are 1,637 polling stations covering 576 polling locations within the Rachakonda police limits of which 53 polling stations have been categorised as hypersensitive and 512 as sensitive.

"On the day of the polls, all polling centers will be under CCTV surveillance and barricades will be set up at a distance of 100 meters. We are conducting meetings with all political parties, police station-wise, to sensitise about the Model Code of Conduct. Apart from it, we have also set up check-posts at 29 places and 90 pickets. Flag marches are being conducted in some localities and sensitive areas to instill confidencel among the voters," stated the officer.
