Himayathnagar: Balala Hakkula Sangham honorary president Achyut Rao said on Monday that intensified checking was required at SCR stations to curb the activities of the alleged child-lifting mafia.

"Trafficking and buying and selling of children has become like buying groceries in market." He said that during the day the Bowenpally police had arrested one Ch Prasad of Langar House, who is a native of Warni mandal of Nizamabad, while carrying a six-month-old baby whom he allegedly purchased from a beggar in Nizamabad.

Rao wanted the roots of beggar to be traced so that the parents could be identified. He said TTE and SCR security staff should check people who are travelling with children in case they notice any unusual behaviour.
