Hyderabad: The South Central Railway generated record Rs 1.18 crore in ticket checking revenue during a day-long intensive drive across the zone on Thursday.
Undertaken in anticipation of the huge festive rush of rail passengers travelling for Diwali and Chhath festivals, the drive aimed to avoid inconvenience to genuine passengers. Conducted across Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Nanded divisions under the instructions of Principal Chief Commercial Manager Ity Pandey, ticket checking staff registered 11,150 cases of ticketless or irregular travel against defaulters.
This marks the highest single-day ticket checking revenue recorded by SCR since the zone's bifurcation in June 2026, significantly surpassing the average daily collection of Rs 33.44 lakh from around 4,373 cases. Secunderabad Division contributed the highest revenue share, realizing Rs 1.02 crore. Notably, 117 lady ticket checking staff worked actively alongside male counterparts during the enforcement drive.
The main objective of the drive was to prevent inconvenience to bona fide passengers, curb ticketless travel in reserved and unreserved coaches, and raise public awareness regarding valid travel authority. General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava appreciated the Commercial Department and ticket checking staff for achieving the remarkable milestone. He commended their commitment and proactive approach in curbing irregular travel, emphasizing that intensive drives safeguard genuine passengers and ensure smooth, hassle-free journeys for all.
The railway administration confirmed that similar enforcement operations will continue throughout the ongoing festive season across key passenger corridors to maintain operational discipline and secure railway revenue effectively.
