Secunderabad: Taking serious note of signal jumping and to help commuters cross the roads with ease, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) installed LED strip lights at Sangeet Junction as part of a pilot project. Officials said that similar lighting is planned at other junctions at Panty Junction, Rasoolpura Junction, Neredmet crossroad and Paradise Junction. These colour-changing lights are similar to the traffic signalsand are hung over the traffic poles.

Speaking to The Hans India, B Srinivas Reddy, the zonal commissioner, Secunderabad, said, "At Sangeet junction, there is always traffic congestion and also many complain of commuters jumping signals. With this initiative, it would help synchronise with traffic signaling system for greater visibility of signals and appeal to follow signals and not to violate traffic rules. We installed these strips as a pilot project, no funds have been sanctioned.

"It has been three days since the installation of these LED strip lights. We have noticed improvement even during the day time. We are also getting good feedback from the public. In the coming days, if there is a good response from this project also planning to extend it to other junctions too," he added.
