Talabkatta getting contaminated water
The residents of Talabkatta in Talabchanchalam division in Yakutpura constituency have been complaining about the supply of contaminated water from drinking water pipelines for the last eight days.
Yakutpura: The residents of Talabkatta in Talabchanchalam division in Yakutpura constituency have been complaining about the supply of contaminated water from drinking water pipelines for the last eight days. The residents said that there was no response despite making several complaints to the officials.
According to the residents, HMWSSB supplies water on alternate days for 3-4 hours. They have been receiving contaminated water for around 2 hours for over a week. "The water being supplied is equivalent to sewerage water. It is pungent in odour and it cannot be used for any purpose. We have small children at our homes and the water is not good for health. It is affecting the whole lane in the area," said Abdul Kareem, a resident.
On Wednesday, Talabchanchalam division Corporator Nasreen Sultana inspected the area and interacted with the residents on the issue and said that the works on averting contamination of water in area were in progress and would be completed within 2 days. She also said that the water was polluted due to the mixing of drain water in water pipeline. She maintained that the works were delayed due to recent festivities and holidays.
