She spoke during her visit to the lake after attending the meeting organised to review the development of the lake at Sangareddy on Wednesday. District collector and other district higher officials attended the meeting.

Speaking to media, she said the lake was declared as biodiversity heritage site because of number of species found at the lake. The state government has sanctioned Rs 3.52 crore for the development of the lake three years ago, but the works have not been completed, she said. She urged contractors to speed up the works as the water levels of the lake have already receded.

She enquired the contractor on the status of development works. She ordered the officials to demolish the encroachments and old buildings that come under the limits of Full Tank Level (FTL). She asked the contractors to repair the bund and create an island for the migratory birds in the middle of the lake.

Several migratory birds come to the lake from far away countries, she said. Kaur instructed the officials to save lotus plants in the neighbouring Bandam Kommu Tank by releasing water into it.

Based on the instructions given by the DGP, District Collector Hanumantha Rao issued orders to the officials of revenue department to remove the constructions that come under FTL limits. Orders were also issued to release water into Bandam Kommu Tank. District collector urged locals to cooperate with the government in developing the lake.

Chief Secretary of Forest Department PK Jaav, retired OSD Shankaran, Joint Collector Nikhila, district revenue officer Radhika Ramani, Sangareddy RDO Sreenu, tahasildar Swamy, additional forest department officer Venkateshwar Rao, forest range officer Shyam Kumar, irrigation department CE Ahmed Khan, SE Ananth Reddy, Special additional commandant Devidas, inspector Chandrashekhar, Ameenpur CI Prabhakar and others were present on the occasion.
