Hyderabad: Telangana Congress MPs Ramasahayam Raghuram Reddy, Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy and Gaddam Vamshi Krishna were arrested along with Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other INDIA bloc MPs on Wednesday while attempting to stage a protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy said the MPs wanted to meet Rahul Gandhi, who was detained at the police station, and had no intention of violating the law.
“We want to go inside the police station with the Chief Minister and MPs. We don't want to break any law or create any nuisance. We just want to meet our leader. The Leader of Opposition is inside, and we are only five or six people. What is happening in this country?” he asked. He said the MPs should be allowed to meet Rahul Gandhi as he had participated in the protest throughout the day. “We need to sit with him. Somebody has to be with him because he was at the protest the entire day. We are protesting because we were not allowed to raise the issue in Parliament, so we came onto the streets,” Chamala said.
