Weekly market holders are leaving the botched vegetables and wastes on roads behind after the market is closed.

LB Nagar: Weekly market holders are leaving the botched vegetables and wastes on roads behind after the market is closed. This is creating a lot of trouble to the locals passing through these stretches. The municipality workers who have to clean the roads are coming very late to work.

Recently, a weekly market held at Navodaya Colony and Kakatiya Colony discarded vegetable wastes on road, which emitted a lot of foul smell and also made roads slippery. Residents in the area are moving the whole wastes aside before starting their daily routine.

"Cleaning the roads became a part of the day after the weekly market. They sell their goods up to 9:30 pm. Municipality workers are coming after 9 am. So, we are cleaning to keep our premises clean," says Sravanthi K, a resident in Navodaya Colony.

"They are making even creating disturbance for our business in peak hours. People are feeling disturbance to come to the shop. We are paying extra money to our maids to clean by the time shop opens," says Raghu, owner of Sri Durga Kirana and General stores. "Government should assist municipality workers to start the work from areas which are used for weekly markets.

The roads are getting slippery with the crashed Tomatoes and other stuff. This is not the way to get Swachh Bharat. Government should take a move on this issue," says Vinay, a resident in Kakatiya Colony.
