Rajendranagar: To allow the smooth flow of sewerage from uphill areas of Teegal Kunta and Chashma under Bahadurpura constituency, the Hyderabad Road Development Corporation Limited (HRDCL) has taken up the works of augmented slab culvert at the water filter of Mir Alam Lake.

According to officials, the works are taken up on the road close to water filter of Mir Alam Lake for the reconstruction of the slab culvert. A sewerage line is already passing under the road, through which filth is flowing from Teegal Kunta, and is being directed to Mir Alam Lake. Beside the existing sewerage line, a new facility will pave way for increased flow in the recent days. The excavation works have already begun to widen the size of the passage way of the flow and to prevent water clogging and overflows.

"Works have been taken up to construct a slab culvert with one vent of 8 spans adjacent to existing slab culvert. The width of the slab culvert is 25 meters. The FRL will be raised by 1.5 meters on existing RCL for free flow of water. The thickness of the slab will be 0.820 meters, while the wearing coat thickness will be 0.075 meters. Approaches on either side of the road will be 40 meters," said A Satya Narayana, deputy executive engineer at HRDCL. "We have been pursuing the work for the last one year, but we now got the approval for slab culvert on Afzalgunj-Aramghar Road. The slab culvert is being constructed with the estimation of Rs 40 lakh," he added.

Presently, the works are being taken up at MJ Palace i.e., left side of the road on the way to Bahadurpura-Aramghar X Roads. The officials said a slab culvert is being constructed at the site that may increase the height of the road. "However, we will level the road by raising the height of other side for a few meters for the free flow of traffic on this route," they said.
