BJP national leader Dr Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy speaking to the media
Khammam: BJP national leader and Telangana BJP Core Committee member Dr Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Sunday accused the Congress government in Telangana of encouraging large-scale corruption and irregularities in the state’s mines, land and sand resources.
Addressing a media conference at the BJP district office in Khammam, chaired by district BJP president NelluriKoteswara Rao, he alleged that Congress leaders were misusing government contracts and land transactions, including those involving 22-A properties, for personal gains.
He alleged a massive scam in the Buggapadu Food Park project in Khammam district, claiming that 72 acres of valuable land had been sold outright to a company named Deepak Netizen at just Rs 25 lakh per acre. Questioning the company’s reported annual turnover of Rs 22 crore, he sought an explanation on how such a large extent of land was allotted at the stated price.
He demanded that the government disclose the alleged benami interests behind the transaction and warned that the BJP would not let the issue go.
He also alleged large-scale corruption in Singareni coal mines, claiming that he possessed substantial information about irregularities and would expose the details soon.
Criticising the government’s response to El Niño-related drought concerns, Sudhakar Reddy said farmers were facing uncertainty while the Chief Minister was offering advice against cultivation instead of extending adequate assistance. He accused the three ministers representing Khammam district of failing to protect farmers’ interests.
He further alleged that the Congress government had failed to implement several election promises, including unemployment assistance, fee reimbursement and farm loan waivers. Questioning the implementation of the Indiramma housing scheme, he alleged that party workers were being favoured over eligible beneficiaries and challenged the government to publish the list of houses allotted.
On national politics, he accused the Congress-led INDIA bloc of pursuing divisive politics and criticised Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge for their remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He also questioned the opposition’s criticism of electronic voting machines following electoral defeats.
Referring to the forthcoming Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduate MLC election, he said the BJP would announce its candidate shortly and expressed confidence in the party’s preparations.
Several BJP leaders, including Sunny Uday Pratap, E.V. Ramesh, Rudra Pradeep, Nunna Ravi Kumar, Veeralli Rajesh and Gutta Venkateswara Rao, attended the meeting.
