Kurnool: Former MLA and YSRCP State Minority Working President MA Hafeez Khan expressed strong displeasure on Sunday over alleged discriminatory enforcement by police during the Kurnool Municipal Corporation elections.

Addressing the media, Hafeez Khan alleged that police personnel were selectively arresting and intimidating YSRCP booth agents across multiple polling venues, instilling fear among opposition party workers.

He pointed out that while YSRCP agents faced targeted harassment, hundreds of TDP supporters were permitted to move freely in groups near polling stations without facing police scrutiny. He further questioned authorities for turning a blind eye to non-local individuals from Hyderabad who were allegedly attempting to provoke tensions near voting booths.

Stressing the need for administrative transparency, Hafeez Khan highlighted that CCTV cameras installed across polling booths contain clear visual evidence of electoral violations. He demanded that election supervisors and senior police officials examine the recordings impartially to penalize violators regardless of political affiliation.

He further urged authorities to securely preserve all booth CCTV footage to ensure future legal accountability for any unchecked electoral malpractices.

Reiterating that protecting democratic principles remains the fundamental obligation of law enforcement, Hafeez Khan demanded immediate corrective measures to guarantee a free and fair election. He asserted that the ruling and opposition parties must be treated with complete neutrality and equal protection throughout the voting and post-polling procedures in Kurnool.
