Education devpt given priority: Yennam Srinivas Reddy

Mahabubnagar: Government Whip and MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy said education development was being given the highest priority in the Mahabubnagar constituency, with a focus on improving infrastructure, sports, technical education and skill development. He said Rs 15 crore had been sanctioned for the development of MVS Junior College and the Government Girls Junior College.

Speaking at a press conference at his camp office on Friday, Yennam said Rs 6.86 crore was being utilised for construction works at the Government Girls Junior College. He said the dilapidated buildings at MVS Junior College would be replaced with modern facilities. The MVS Junior College was also proposed to be developed as an integrated educational institution offering education from KG to Class 12.

He said around Rs 7.95 crore had been earmarked for building works, after which the high school would also be shifted to the same campus. He added that MVS Degree College would be developed in phases at an estimated cost of around Rs 70 crore, including construction of a new block.

The MLA said two hostel blocks were already under construction to address accommodation needs of students and proposals had been submitted for hostels for SC boys and girls. He said steps were also being taken to establish two minority residential schools at Veerannapet and an integrated Young India Residential School at an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore.

Referring to the changing employment landscape due to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation, he stressed the need to equip students with technical education and skill development from an early age.

He said the government was expanding skill-based programmes through ITIs, training centres, and initiatives in partnership with Tata Technologies. “Investment in education is an investment in the future of our children,” Yennam said, adding that his focus would remain on strengthening schools, intermediate colleges and degree colleges with modern education, technology and skill training.
