Nellore: Calling upon non-governmental organizations to actively participate in building a strong and prosperous nation, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lauded Swarnabharat Trust (SBT) as a national role model for its 25 years of selfless service in rural development and public welfare.
Addressing the silver jubilee celebrations of SBT at Venkatachalam mandal in Nellore district as the chief guest on Monday, the UP Chief Minister paid rich tributes to former Vice-President of India M Venkaiah Naidu, the guiding force behind the trust.
Yogi Adityanath praised Venkaiah Naidu as a multifaceted leader renowned for his simplicity, commitment, and ability to maintain cordial bipartisan relationships during his tenure as Rajya Sabha Chairman.
Highlighting that rural handicrafts, agriculture, and livestock are the bedrock of India’s economy, the UP CM appreciated SBT for driving rural empowerment inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of “Gram Swaraj” and Nanaji Deshmukh’s Chitrakoot model.
On the occasion, Yogi Adityanath also highlighted UP’s Atal Awasiya Schools, which provide free education to children of construction workers and COVID-19 orphans. Former Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu stated that SBT was established in 2001 to eliminate social disparities through rural healthcare, education, and skill development.
He reaffirmed his stance on keeping his family away from active politics, noting that his daughter Deepa Venkat manages SBT while his son renders social service through the Muppavarapu Foundation. Municipal Administration Minister Ponguru Narayana, Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav, MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, District Collector Himanshu Shukla, and SP Ajita Vejendla were present.
