Rajamahendravaram: Members of the Korukonda Mandal Village Revenue Assistants Association staged a protest at Korukonda in support of their seven-point demands, following a call given by the State Committee.

Addressing the gathering, association mandal president Kandukuri Kannababu urged the government to take immediate steps to resolve the long-pending issues of Village Revenue Assistants. He demanded that VRAs be paid a monthly salary of Rs 26,000 and that the promise made by the Chief Minister in this regard be implemented. He also sought implementation of a regular pay scale for VRAs and appointment of all persons currently working as nominees as regular VRAs. Promotions should be provided to all eligible employees, while VRAs should also be brought under all government welfare schemes, he said.

Mandal union vice-president Potnuri Chinnababu, secretary Chikatarapu Srinu and members Patnala Venkatrao, Kannabathula Dharmaraju, Madasu Padma, Kothapalli Mariyamma, Yalla Viswanatham, Juttuka Sattibabu, Chintapalli Venkatarao, Shaik Valli, Kolli Venkataramana, Akkabathula Uday, Srinu, Bullaiah, Veerraju, Somaraju and others participated in the protest.
