APSPDCL steps up preparedness for heavy rains in Nellore, Tirupati
In Short
Lotheti directed officials to ensure the availability of essential electrical materials, including poles, conductors, transformers, insulators, discs and safety equipment

APSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Siva Sankar Lotheti
Tirupati: APSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Siva Sankar Lotheti has directed electricity officials and staff to remain alert and take precautionary measures in view of the heavy rains expected due to the cyclone. Nellore and Tirupati districts within the APSPDCL jurisdiction are likely to be severely affected, he said on Sunday.
He instructed the Superintending Engineers concerned to remain vigilant in areas likely to receive heavy rainfall. Nodal Officers were asked to continuously monitor power restoration works in case of interruptions in supply. Special teams comprising officers and staff should be kept ready to restore electricity on a war footing in cyclone-affected areas.
Lotheti directed officials to ensure the availability of essential electrical materials, including poles, conductors, transformers, insulators, discs and safety equipment. Vehicles should also be kept ready to transport the materials to locations where restoration work is required. He asked officials to coordinate with contractors and ensure their availability to carry out repair works without delay.
He said Nodal Officers had been appointed at Circle, Division, Sub-Division and Section levels across the organisation. Control Rooms had also been established to monitor the situation and coordinate restoration activities.
The APSPDCL CMD advised consumers to keep emergency charging lights and drinking water ready at home, as power supply interruptions were possible during heavy rainfall. He cautioned the public against touching electricity poles or standing under power lines during rain.
People who notice fallen electricity poles or snapped power lines should immediately inform the nearest electricity department officials or staff. They can also contact the toll-free numbers 1912 or 1800 425 155333. Consumers can report electricity-related problems through the APSPDCL WhatsApp number 91333 31912, he said.
