GITAM hosts lecture on ‘Traits of a Successful Entrepreneur’

Visakhapatnam: Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) at GITAM Deemed to be University was inaugurated by its Vice-Chancellor K Sivaramakrishna here on Tuesday.

A web page was also launched on the occasion. He said women faculty members must utilise the schemes launched by the UGC to promote and ensure participation of women in good numbers.

Further, the V-C informed that around 55 per cent of students in GITAM are women and the B.Sc. nursing programme was exclusively for girls. He said the women empowerment cell will provide a platform for women students and faculty members to share their experiences and views regarding their status in the society and suggest ways to improve and empower themselves.

Institution's Registrar D Gunasekharan said WEC will step forward with specific objectives for the well-being of girl students. WEC chairperson Ch Surekha briefed that the cell mainly stands for facilitating women empowerment through guest lectures, seminars, awareness programmes on health, self-defence, women entrepreneurship and other welfare activities.

WEC members Sowdamini, K Lakshmi, Ch Swathi, K Sridevi, S Prashanthi, Marni Rakshmitha, among others participated in the programme.
