Every village should be made TB-free: Warangal Collector

Warangal: District Collector Dr Satya Sarada has called upon youth and NCC cadets to actively participate in the campaign to make every village tuberculosis-free. She flagged off the TB Mukt Bharat–Ayushman for Josh teams’ programme at the District Medical and Health Office on Thursday.
Addressing an awareness programme, the Collector said TB was a contagious disease that spread through the air. She urged people not to ignore symptoms such as a cough lasting more than two weeks, fever, night sweats, weight loss, loss of appetite and fatigue.
She advised those showing symptoms to approach the nearest government health centre for sputum testing and undergo chest X-rays or other tests if required. She said TB could be completely cured with regular treatment and urged patients to complete the prescribed course to prevent drug resistance.
Dr Satya Sarada asked Josh teams, NCC cadets and volunteers to conduct village-level screening and ensure suspected cases receive timely testing and treatment. She also directed departments to work together to make Warangal a TB-free district.
