Wanaparthy: Tribal women from Nagamma thanda under Kasim Nagar gram panchayat in Wanaparthy mandal arrived on Monday at the collectorate with empty pots, accompanied by their sarpanch, to complain about lack of drinking water. They were stopped at the gate and prevented from entering. Speaking about their plight the women explained that potable water is supplied to the thanda only once every four-five days, and even then, they receive only a single pot of water.
They stated that the amount is insufficient for their daily needs—let alone for washing clothes or other household chores. No water available even for drinking. They expressed anguish at being barred from entering the collectorate when they had come specifically to lodge a grievance.
However, locals intervened to pacify the attendees.
They left their pots outside and formally lodged a complaint through ‘Prajavani’ urging officials to provide drinking water immediately.
