Warangal: Rains across erstwhile Warangal district affected the normal life. In Mahabubabad, false ceiling of the ICU in the Area Hospital collapsed in the wee hours of Monday. Fortunately, no patient was injured in the incident. However, the heavy rain flooded the hospital due to seepage in the ceiling.

District collector K Shashanka, who inspected the hospital, attributed the problem to the negligence of the engineers. "The patients were shifted to other wards as a precautionary measure," he said. The collector told the doctors in the hospital to monitor the construction of the new hospital building instead of leaving it completely to the engineers.

With heavy rains in prospect, Hanumakonda District Collector Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu put officials on high alert and told them not to leave the headquarters until rain recedes. Stating heavy rains in forecast for the next 24 hours, he urged the people not to leave their homes unless it was so important.

He informed the people to alert the administration by calling on toll free number 1800-425-1115 if they face any rain related problem. Meanwhile, Mulugu and Bhupalpally districts also witnessed heavy rains throughout Monday. Rescue teams have been kept on high alert to deal with any kind of exigency.

Pakhal lake in Warangal district is brimming with storm water. The overflowing waters have become cause of concern for the farmers as they fear of losing standing crops. Narsampet MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy inspected the deflouride project in Ashok Nagar which is facing a threat of flooding. He alerted officials to remain vigilant.

Several colonies in Dornakal of Mahabubabad district experienced power outage due to uprooting of trees. Two oxen belonging to farmer Maloth Naresh, died due to lightening strike in Chennakistapuram village in Mahabubabad.

It cost him nearly Rs 80,000. The haystack belonging to farmer Marella Raghupathi caught fire due to lightning in Chityala of Jayashankar-Bhupalpally district,.

Meanwhile, the Lakshmi Barrage in Medigadda and Saraswathi Barrage at Annaram in Mahadevpur mandal of Jayashankar-Bhupalpally district have been receiving copious inflows.
