Kathmandu: In a tragic incident, at least 17 people died and several others severely injured after a bus skidded off from the highway and plunged into a deep gorge of 350 metres (1,150 feet) on Wednesday.

At the time of the accident, the bus was traveling from Arghakhanchi district west of Kathmandu to the southern city of Butwal. The death toll is likely to rise as many of the victims are said to be in critical condition. Among the dead are six males, five women, and three children. The details of three others are yet to be revealed.

The poor road condition and reckless driving are said to be the main reason for the accident. The Authorities have registered a case and investigating further. In a similar incident on November 4 also left 17 people dead, and earlier on November 3 rd 16 people were killed in the road accident.
